Ashleigh is a pelvic health OT living and working in Northern Colorado. She prides herself in being a documentation nerd and makes OT study guides and cheat sheets in her free time 🤓. Ashleigh graduated from CSU with her MSOT in 2020 and began her career as an acute care therapist at a Level 1 trauma hospital about 1 hour north of Denver, CO. As a new grad, her interest and drive for pelvic health skyrocketed when she realized how crucial it was to educate acute care patients about the risks of pelvic health dysfunction after trauma or surgery. Ashleigh serves her clients from a wide and informed professional scope that challenges her to "know a little bit about a lot of things" and considers it her professional responsibility to create therapeutic space that prioritizes patient physical and emotional safety. As an OT responsible for facilitating functional independence and safety for discharge, Ashleigh finds opportunities to provide pelvic health education regarding everything from the potential risks of opioids on bowel function to the benefits of breathing and body awareness for oxygen saturation, from strategies for relaxation for urinary retention to positioning for pelvic pain relief after pelvic fractures, and from hygiene practices for UTI prevention to sex after incomplete spinal cord injury. Ashleigh recently paired up with Inspire Home Health to provide one of the first mobile outpatient pelvic health services in Northern CO. She is looking forward to the home health/outpatient world of pelvic health and hopes to earn her Perinatal Health Specialist board certification as she works to bring pelvic health education and rehabilitation to the birthing community in her acute care hospital.. Ashleigh is a Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist and a Registered & Licensed Occupational Therapist.
